Was ihr passiert ist, weiß leider niemand – aber es muss schrecklich gewesen sein. Mit ganz verkrusteten Ohren entdeckt ein Tierfreund die kleine Katze Nora auf der Straße und bringt sie zur Tierärztin. Ab hier verändert sich Noras Leben komplett. Sie ist jetzt ein richtiger, kleiner Star.

Nora, from Wisconsin, US, had to have the outer flaps of her ears chopped off after they became infected through years of living on the street. The domestic shorthair grey tabby mix was eventually rescued and taken to a local vet, who discovered she had chronic ear infections and hematomas. Vets found the only way to treat her ear canals was to chop off the badly infected flaps – leaving her with an unusual appearance. Despite initial fears she wouldn't be adopted, Nora was snapped up within a month by veterinary nurse, H Due, and their wife in January 2020. Although looking like she has no ears, the moggy is still able to hear thanks to vets keeping her ear drums and canals. So like every other cat in the world, she'll coming running when a packet of Dreamies are shaken. And true to feline form, Nora's favourite hobby is napping, which she does with the couple's three-legged dog Matilda. In fact, she loves so much, she sleeps 20 hours a day. "Nora is an absolute sweetheart. She has no fear whatsoever and greets any person or pet head-on," H told NeedToKnow.online "She tolerates the other cats, but they don't play with her, and she actively snuggles our two dogs. "She doesn't appear to be any more sensitive to sound than my other cats. "She has several pairs of knitted fake ears but we've never had to use earmuffs. "She's just very lazy, like any other cat." Ganz verkrustet und teilweise abgestorben hängen die Öhrchen ihr vom Kopf. Ein Tierfreund kann das nicht mit ansehen und bringt die Katze zur Tierärztin. Doch die kann auch nicht mehr viel für die Ohren tun, außer sie ganz zu entfernen. Denn eine böse Entzündung hat sich an den Ohrmuscheln festgesetzt.

Das stört die Tierarzthelferin H Due aber überhaupt nicht – für sie ist klar: Ich schenke der Katze ein neues Zuhause. Und einen Namen. Ab sofort hört sie auf den Namen Nora.

Auf ihren Namen hören, das tut sie im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes. Denn die graue Katze kann trotz vollständig amputierter Öhrchen noch perfekt hören! „Sie scheint nicht sensibler auf Geräusche zu reagieren, wie meine anderen Katzen.“, berichtet H Du NeedToKnow.online.

Zuhause bei H Due leben auch noch mehr Katzen und zwei große Bulldoggen, mit denen sich Nora aber bestens versteht. „Nora ist zuckersüß. Sie hat überhaupt keine Angst, sie begrüßt jeden und schleicht ihm um die Beine.“, erzählt ihr Frauchen NeedToKnow.online. Ansonsten schlafe sie viel, bis zu 20 Stunden am Tag, wie fast jede Katze.

Nora hat die Ruhe weg, und das obwohl ihr so Schlimmes widerfahren ist – und sie nebenbei ein richtiger Internet Star ist! Fast 30.000 Follower hat Nora auf Instagram. Und da bekommen die Follower auch mal zu sehen, was Nora so gar nicht gefällt.

Eines kann die Keinohrkatze nämlich gar nicht leiden: wenn ihr Frauchen ihr selbstgestrickte Ohren anzieht. Auf Instagram schreibt H Due, dass sie bestimmt an die 10 Paar der Strick-Öhrchen besitzt, diese aber niemals länger als ein paar Sekunden auf dem Kopf behält. Braucht sie auch nicht, sie ist ja auch ohne Ohren etwas ganz Besonderes und zuckersüß. (cga)
