Gegen den mutmaßlichen Erpresser des Topmodels Cindy Crawford ist Haftbefehl wegen versuchter Erpressung erlassen worden. Wie die Staatsanwaltschaft Stuttgart mitteilte, leugnet der 26 Jahre alte Deutsche die Tat nicht. Er hatte sich am Montagabend der deutschen Polizei in Nürtingen gestellt und wurde bereits vernommen. Ob und wann eine Anklage gegen den Mann erhoben wird, ist unklar. Sollte es zu einem Prozess gegen ihn in Deutschland kommen, drohen ihm eine Geldstrafe oder bis zu fünf Jahren Freiheitsentzug.

Der 26-jährige aus Kirchheim, der der Polizei wegen Drogen- und Diebstahldelikten bekannt ist, soll Crawford mit einem Foto ihrer gefesselten Tochter erpresst haben. Er habe mehrfach per Telefon und E-Mail von einem Computer in Stuttgart gedroht, das Bild an Boulevardzeitungen zu verkaufen. Das Foto zeigt die damals siebenjährige Tochter von Crawford und ihrem Ehemann Rande Gerber an einen Stuhl gefesselt und geknebelt. Die Aufnahme soll bei einem 'Räuber und Gendarm-Spiel' entstanden sein.

Dafür habe er von Crawford von Deutschland aus zunächst 100 000 US-Dollar (rund 67 000 Euro) und dann 100 000 Euro gefordert.

Der 26-Jährige war am Sonntag von der Türkei, wohin er sich abgesetzt hatte, nach Deutschland zurückgeflogen. "Er hatte Angst davor, in der Türkei ins Gefängnis zu kommen und in die USA abgeschoben zu werden", sagte eine Sprecherin der Staatsanwaltschaft in Stuttgart.
