Zoo in Lebanon faces furious backlash over ‘CRUEL and ‘DISGUSTING glass viewing box – where visitors get up close and personal with LIONS
A zoo in Lebanon is facing furious backlash online after sharing a clip of visitors viewing a lion through a glass box – which protestors deemed “cruel”.
In the clip, which was filmed at Animal City Lebanon, two women appear to be agitating a lion while standing inside a glass box in the animal’s enclosure.
The lion can be seen clawing ferociously at the glass, presumably in an attempt to reach the women.
They pose for pictures and laugh as the beast roars.
The zoo is promoting it as a “memorable face-to-face encounter” – but the footage was slammed online.
One person said: “This is not cool. The animal is suffering. They are not a sanctuary.”
“So cruel, no fun at all. And those two…I can’t find a word for those…shame on them,” added another viewer.
Someone else commented: “This is heart breaking for me to see. Those people and the people who let this happen are sick to do like this and disrespect these animals.”
“Poor lion! This is stupid,” agreed another user.
Other viewers deemed it “disgusting”, “terrible” and “animal abuse”.
One person added: “This is really f***ed up.”
“Cruel idiots,” agreed someone else.
“It’s all fun and games until the glass breaks,” added another person.
Despite the backlash, the post racked up nearly 10,000 likes, with some viewers left fascinated by the display.
One fan said: “Wow manifique.” [sic]
“I need to go there,” someone else commented.
Another person added: “OMG!! I would got heart attack if I had this situation.” [sic]
